In late 2009, Google announced that it would be giving free navigation on the Motorola DROID/MILESTONE in the North American region. Now Nokia is also following Googles footsteps but at the same time taking it to the next level. Nokia is going to offer free turn by turn Navigation in 76 countries, in 46 languages and detailed maps for over 180 countries. Nokia used to charge earlier for the turn by turn navigation. So this step is a huge move by Nokia and should attract a lot of customers. It is estimated that Nokia will be providing the service to around 20 million smartphones which means its hard luck for dedicated GPS devices such as Garmin and Tom Tom. This is definitely going to be game changer ! We shall wait for official announcement from Nokia . Hope this move attracts developers to build more apps based on Nokia Maps ! via Reuters Similar Posts: Ovi SDK Launched ROUTE 66 Mobile 7 for Nokia Series 60 Mobile Phones Launched in North America Nokia Ovi Store goes live in some countries, coming soon to AT&T Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition Cheapest Navigation Phone Sygic Mobile Maps for Nokia N900 Coming Soon Share/Save
