News Corp, the world’s second largest media conglomerate owns a plethora of companies in various mass media, including the aforementioned 20th Century Fox. This multi billion company is always looking towards expanding its horizons. Latest on its list of acquisitions is the electronic reading platform called Skiff . With the iPad enjoying the majority of the tablet PC market, News Corp wants a piece of the pie. The company had earlier taken a firm stance against online news portals like Google News. Skiff is a company that the Hearst Corporation developed last year to develop an online store and e-reader for publications. News Corp is only buying the software for its ability to deliver rich media layouts for newspapers and magazines on the web.
