Voice Blogging Gains Momentum With Hibuddy

After social networking, blogging, micro blogging comes  a new phenomenon called voice blogging. It indeed is what you think it is. It is a voice blogging service offered for mobile users. Indiatimes has launched such a service, called Hibuddy, which will allow users to create their own profiles and add friends to their network, send voice posts and participate in discussions which can be heard by other consumers. If you want to get started, you just need to call 58888199 and follow the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system to create your channel or post a voice blog, after which your friends will receive an SMS update regarding the same. This will be like any other social media platform where you can connect with people having similar interests and voice your opinion on matters that you deeply feel about. Some of the added benefits are that you can do things like sing or listen to shayaris or speak about stuff that you won’t be able to do on Facebook. There are channels on cooking, PJs, gossip, technology, etc. where you can listen to other people and give in your inputs too. Users have to subscribe to this service for Rs. 15 for 15 days. Also, the call charges are Rs. 1 per minute. The internet penetration in India is only about 2 per cent, while the mobile penetration is much higher. Social networking has grown exponentially in India and this novel concept is just going to further the growth. Voice is a more personal medium to communicate and there is no need to stay connected to the internet with this service. These are the strong pillars on which this concept is based and is touted to be the next big thing in India. Though Indiatimes calls this a revolutionary idea, we beg to differ. This concept has already been established by Bubbly – a voice blogging service for mobile users. We had talked to their CEO about a month ago. Bubbly has roped in celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Sonu Nigam and other celebrities. Millions of users are expected to follow these people, which forms the core of the business model of this service. Bubbly works just like twitter, but with a voice. This concept is pretty unexplored and has tremendous potential to form a major part of India’s growth of social media considering India’s high mobile penetration. Is there a better way to express yourself?
