Towards the end of this year, Yahoo! Inc will be launching its Search Direct feature in order to beat the stiff competition thrown by Google Inc . Google has been so long providing efficient and quick web search by offering relevant suggestions. This search feature was unveiled in the US market in March and Yahoo! Inc saw a growth in its user base by almost 1.7 percentage points as reported by ComScore . So keeping this increase statistics in concern, Yahoo now decided to do the same in India. Yahoo gets almost half of its revenue from search and the sprawling Banglaore office has almost 2000 employees who work behind the development of these search tools. “ Through Search Direct we are trying to reduce the number of links through which the users have to navigate ” exclaimed Amit Dayal, VP of Engineering, Searches and Marketplaces Group at Yahoo, India. Yahoo is on its way to generate faster results that happens character by character making search experience simpler. Classic search will also be introduced in India by this year in partnership with Microsoft. Yahoo is also concentrating on search apps such as Rich and Sketch-a-search applications which will be in India by the end of this year as well. “ We are trying to create a platform where users from India can enjoy the new innovations at the same time as the users from the US ,” said Dayal. So by the end of this year definitely Yahoo will be unveiling a lot of surprises for Indian web audience. What’s your take on Yahoo’s search engine? Will it be a tough competitor against the Google?
