In what may be a major relief to scores of people who travel in busy city streets in the country, Global provider of maps, traffic, location data enabled navigation tools has recently launched their NAVTEQ Traffic Pro . NAVTEQ Traffic Pro is their premier product and has had rave reviews internationally. It hopes to deliver comprehensive and real-time traffic data to its customers in the major metros like Delhi and Mumbai. Earlier Navteq mapping was introduced on Nokia India for all the 3G users; t he question arises what new NAVTEQ India can help us with? Let’s take a look. According to their research, the average person who uses a traffic-enabled navigation system saves 18% less time in traffic. This amounts to almost 3 days saved yearly. Due to accurate information, the fuel efficiency of such a driver will have increased and could thus decrease CO2 emissions to 628 kg per drives which is 23% less than other drivers. So, we guess it makes sense to use it because if everyone gets it, we could make some major difference collectively. Navigation tools are scant in India and this will see the dawn of more traffic based navigation tools in India. NAVTEQ has also been in partnership with Idea Cellular and Nokia so that they could provide maps and other location services to their consumers. “ The launch of NAVTEQ Traffic Pro in India is another important milestone in our commitment to provide the highest quality, global traffic solution to our customers and commuters ,” said Ogi Redzic, vice president for NAVTEQ Traffic. “ Mumbai and Delhi are two of the world’s most densely populated cities, which can be particularly challenging when it comes to helping people avoid traffic congestion. NAVTEQ’s unique expertise in global traffic processing provides an accurate and seamless traffic solution that will save travelers in India time, fuel and frustration .” Back in the year 2009, it was reported that Navteq introduces its Global Centre in India whereas on other hand matching its footsteps MapMyIndia bringing out its GPS gizmo. TATA Docomo, one of the service provider in India had also tied up with Navteq and introduced location based services called Route Finder and Smart Pilot. The Chicago based company has made major breakthrough by making their service compatible with all modern devices including laptops, web and smart-phones. The latest commercial NAVTEQ map is available for more than 2,200 cities throughout India. That is pretty good. We are also hope that Google India comes up with its turn-to-turn based navigation service soon so that Indians can have world class navigation services in the country.
