Amazon’s agreement with Discovery Communications will make Amazon Instant Video Swell to 17,000 Tittles. Under the new agreement, Amazon will have rights not only to the fresh content of Discovery communications but also archives spanning more than 25 Years! Amazon’s Instant Video library now holds 17,000 titles available for instant streaming & more than 120,000 available for rent or purchase. Just last month Amazon had signed a deal with media conglomerate Viacom & sourced their content as well. With a free one month trial & Annual charge of just US$ 79 (@ Rs. 4000) , the charges for this fall well within our monthly cable bill! Content aggregation has become the newest battleground for all companies as they strive hard for consumers’ attention & their wallets. Each company, be it a mobile service provider or a online video sharing site is busy signing agreements with companies that will let them stream exclusive content to their customers. While mobiles are getting more powerful with larger & brighter screens, such content will prove instrumental in jacking up revenues. With 4G on its way & Amazon’s entry into India confirmed via Junglee , it will be truly interesting to see how others respond to this step. Additionally, with Amazon’s Kindle selling like hotcakes we see the company making good money lending out books & videos. While English shows have been snapped up, will we see regional content on Amazon’s Prime soon? Looking For A Social Media Agency?? – Contact WATConsult – India’s Leading Social Media Agency
