Opera Mini 7 For Android Released: Low Data High Speed Browsing

Indians are no strangers to the Mobile Internet. And Mobile Web Browsers have a very important role to play. In fact, more Indians access the net via mobile phones than via regular PC’s.  Opera  have always been at the forefront of Mobile Web Browsing. They have now launched  their newest version of Opera  Mini: Opera Mini 7, for Android devices. For the past few months, Oper a had been testing Opera Mini 7 on the Android Platform as Opera Mini Next, a beta browser. Now they seem to have sorted out all the bugs and are pushing it to regular Opera Mini users. Earlier, Opera Mini let you keep the nine most used websites in your Speed Dial on your Homepage. Now, the limit of nine websites has been lifted and you can set as many as you want. Also, Hardware Acceleration has been added, promising a smoother experience for users. HTML5 Support has also been added in this version of Opera Mini. Unlike other countries, most of India is still on 2G or EDGE Data, since 3G hasn’t taken off as much as was expected. This is where Opera Mini comes in. Touted as a low data browser, Opera Mini uses a ‘Proxy Server’. This means that when we enter a web page URL, it loads the page fully on its server somewhere else, and then pushed just the important bits like text and formatting to your phone. Since this happens in split seconds, for the end user, it seems like the page is loading instantly. Also Proxy Browsing takes almost 10x less data than browsing the same page on a normal web browser. This means one experiences a good browsing experience even on EDGE Networks.  These two advantages coupled together have made Opera Mini extremely popular, especially in India. On the Android Market, Opera Mini has been download over 10 Million Times. You can download Opera Mini 7 from the Google Play link here .
