Zomato has carved out a niche for its content which is mainly for the gastronomically inclined Indians who use the Internet to find out good places to eat. They have been around since September 2008 and have been successful at what they do. Zomato thrived on the Internet for all these years and now they are expanding into print with their city specific restaurant guide which will be launched in May, this year. This new city specific publication is being called ‘Citibank Zomato Restaurant Guide’ and will be available for all the major cities namely Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. They are available for pre-booking on Flipkart . Both, Flipkart and Zomato have expressed no doubts that they will sell more 1,00,000 of these restaurant guides. The Guide is being produced by the Hachette Book Group. Here is an image which shows what they look like. Source: Zomato The guides have been generated by the data that millions of users have provided Zomato with and hence there is no bias as such. The guides are designed in a unique ‘occasion’ format which are mean suit many different needs of the users. These occasions range from ‘Romantic Dinner’, ‘Beer in a Bar’, ‘Girls’ Night’ to ‘Out to Dining with Kids’. The guide also has QR codes where users can check updated menus, contact and details and many other things. Deepinder Goyal, Founder & CEO, Zomato.com says, “It is not an encyclopedia of restaurants but a carefully designed list of recommendations for a particular ‘occasion’. Restaurants included in the guide are an unbiased choice of seasoned foodies (Zomato users), who appreciate good food and great experiences more than anything else.” “We are delighted to associate with Zomato to present the Citibank Zomato Restaurant Guide 2012. Our customers have appreciated the dinning programs that we launched earlier this year and we are confident that they will enjoy the fine selection of restaurants and the Citibank dining privilege offers listed in this book” , said Muge Yuzuak, MD & Head of Credit Payment Products – Citibank. Zomato has started selling tickets for New Years events late last year which was pretty successful deal for the company. With their new print guide, they have blurred the line between traditional and digital media which is always a good thing, The company prefers that they remain platform agnostic and continue with great services for all their users. They have also been working on a Windows Phone App to accompany their already existing Android and iPhone apps. Besides this they have also added important updates to the   Zomato website in order to make it easier for users. You can get more details from their official blog .
