Tumblr For iOS Gets A Complete Makeover; Retaliatory Blow To Pinterest?

Micro-blogging site Tumblr has released a revamped version of its app for iOS. In the major update to version 3 , Tumblr has reworked the application from the ground up & attempted to streamline the entire experience of blogging. The new application is more intuitive and the process of writing and posting on Tumblr is much shorter than the earlier version. Here are some of the new features. There is no need to check the  News-feed regularly as the new version mimics the web version. Each post now sports simpler means to “ reply ”, “ re-blog ” and “ like ” with in-built icons. Tumblr has also put in a lot of efforts to revamp the customary ‘ dashboard ’ which now supports high resolution images. One can now post and listen to audio links that stream directly from ‘ Spotify ’. However, since most of Tumblr’s content is visual i.e. in the form of images, the company has given extra attention to the same. Tumblr now offers improved photo browsing with a new image viewer which makes it easy to flip through images. A simple upwards swipe now gives access to iPhone’s camera for faster, easier capturing & uploading of images. Additionally, no longer one has to wait for the post to be uploaded before continuing. Such time saving techniques will surely increase the adoption rate of Tumblr service. We guess the revamp appears to be a retaliatory blow to Pinterest . The newly emerging image based social networking company has been making steady progress without a relevant rival. With Tumblr’s revamp the company just might give it a tough fight . Tumblr has even taken cues from Twitter , Facebook & Youtube about the ‘ Trending Topics ’ & will feature a new ‘ Radar ’ Tab which will showcase noteworthy collection of trending posts selected by the Tumblr team. Check out the new app and tell us how you like it. Looking For A Social Media Agency?? – Contact WATConsult – India’s Leading Social Media Agency
