Survey: LinkedIn Becomes Most Preferred Headhunting Destination

According to a recent survey, LinkedIn is the most frequently chosen online destination where recruiters tap into to find qualified candidates for their company. Jobvite , a recruiting software and applicant tracking provider recently concluded a survey which reveals a whopping 93% of those asked, stated they used LinkedIn as a regular talent-pool to source professionals for their requirement. LinkedIn has been steadily increasing its reputation as the destination to find the right person for the job. Since the survey initiated in 2010, initially 78% & later 87% of the recruiters revealed their confidence in the site. While LinkedIn may be the most primary source, even other networking sites like Facebook & micro-blogging site Twitter too have been growing steadily. Over 66% of the recruiters checked the candidate’s Facebook profile & more than half of the headhunters interacted with them on Twitter. Interestingly, over 90% of the recruiters will continue with their methods as about 89% got & retained the right person they found through such sites. What implications do job-seekers have? Potential candidates & job searchers will now have to be extra careful while using these social networking sites. Users tend to be very liberal & most events of their social lives end up being posted on such sites. Though LinkedIn has still remained a very professional oriented service, others like Facebook, Twitter etc. are regularly used to voice dissent & crib about events, people & situations. Such behavior could poorly reflect on the otherwise untarnished reputation of a candidate. Additionally, the survey also revealed the bias recruiters exhibit about spelling & grammatical errors in the profile! Over 50% of those surveyed reacted negatively to such mundane errors. It is simply irrefutable that Social sites have always been a preferred destination of recruiters to take a quick peek into the professional & social persona of a viable candidate. However, this survey only confirms just how much dependent headhunters have become on such sites. Have you been recruited via such sites? Do share your experience.
