Need to advertise your brand? Customer outreach has its essence in effective branding and marketing, which is based solely on a particular company’s tactics to advertise. Digital space, particularly the internet has a lot of avenues and opportunities for companies to show off and garner customer confidence. Lately, social networking and social media platforms have been coming up as a perfect platform for advertising for many reasons including the one that comes out of rudimentary logic; a lot of people gather there and interact . Social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter and the rest have been the popular choice for businesses of all kinds to advertise. Everyone wants a share of the advertising market pie and everyone is making progress in that direction. With the advent of smartphones and tablets, mobile advertising has become popular. Twitter announced the sale of mobile ads at the start of the year; Facebook started selling mobile ads in summer and both firms have been making progress. They clearly have established a healthy symbiotic relationship with the advertisers that benefit both. Researchers at EMarketer have released a report which said that Twitter has surpassed Facebook in terms of revenue that came from mobile ads . Talking about exact numbers, Twitter garnered $129.7 million which one ups Facebook’s $72.7 million. EMarketer also said that Facebook will rise to number two in the US market by 2013 with $387 million in mobile ads and will take in $629 million by 2014 . These numbers are somewhat explicable by the fact that there was a six month gap between the operation conception of both the companies. In due time, Facebook is bound to overtake Twitter as it has a wider user base than Twitter, which restricts the post to 140 characters. Facebook has also been facing trouble with diminishing user count and lowering share prices. To add to its woes, reports like these create a negative image among companies looking to advertise. Forecasts and predictions in general about a market as volatile as mobile advertising creates more skewed information than exact factual, reliable evidence that supplements action. If there’s one thing the digital media industry loves, its advertising forecasts , particularly if they relate to new and emerging channels such as mobile, video and social media. Twitter’s mobile interface was built from the ground up, while Facebook is a new learner. Twitter’s inane simplicity supplements the viability of advertising. While the social networking websites fight for the share, the mobile advertising business remains a stronghold of Google, the champion in advertising. With a staggering more than half market share, Facebook and Twitter lag far behind the giant. Mobile advertising is affected by a lot of factors and predictions, to some extent, can only feed imagination.
