Google Launches World Map For New Year Resolutions; You Can Post Yours Too

by Paul Joseph on January 2, 2013 · 0 comments

Every year we make resolutions, every year we break them. This is definitely the one thing that binds ALL humans on this planet. There is possibly not a single person who has religiously stuck to his/her New Year resolution. Normally, these resolutions are shared with friends, family and perhaps work colleagues. Some people may post the same on their blogs or on twitter/Facebook. However, the ‘ reach ’ of these resolutions is severely limited to only the people we know. Now, thanks to Google we can announce our resolutions to the entire world! Google has launched a World Map that allows you to post your New Year resolution online and to read those of others. Resolutions are segmented in categories like Love, Health, Education, Do Good, Others, etc. All these are automatically translated from foreign languages to the language of your choice with the help of Google Translate. Some of the funny ones that I read are as follows: Do more Epic things in life Slim Work less, earn more Find a woman for dating Haha! I think this is a really amazing launch by Google. It is a simple yet effective way to get people together and to get them to share their real (or fake) resolutions. The names of people are not disclosed, though their locations are pointed out on the map. This launch is a part of the Google Zeitgeist which puts forth the trends of 2012 – what people searched, the trending topics and so on. In early December, Twitter too released its ‘Twitter in 2012’ report letting people in on the golden tweets, trends, etc. of 2012. Maybe putting out our resolutions in the universe for all to read will help us to stay true to our resolutions after all!   Follow @Muted_Musings Image Courtesy |   digitaltrends   Looking For A Social Media Agency?? – Contact WATConsult – India’s Leading Social Media Agency
