Google Services Expected To Become 30% Faster In Asia This Year

Google’s services are going to become 30% faster in Asia because of the new data centers will go live this year. These data centers will be present in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. The Singapore and Taiwan data centers will be operational this year but there is no information on when the Hong Kong one will become operational. What does this mean to the Asian and Indian Internet user? Well 30% more speed when using Google products like Search and Youtube. That is a good thing for Google as Asia, especially India  is a big market for the company. Google plans to get the next billion users from emerging markets and making its services faster and better in Asian countries is an important step forward for the company. So how exactly does an Asia data data center make Google’s services faster? The Internet works on packet switching to deliver data across the world. The data runs through huge fiber optic cables buried below the sea. Google’s data centers exist in the North America, South America and Scandinavia. These are long distances. The physical proximity of the Asian data centers will make the service faster due to lesser amount of distance that the data has to travel. India’s weather apparently makes running a data center difficult, according to Lalitesh Katragadda, Country Head at Google India. He confirmed that once these Asian data centers are online, the speeds of Google’s speed would increase although he didn’t mention that it would be 30% faster. That statistic comes from Raj Gopal AS, who is the managing director at NxtGen Data center and Cloud Services in Bangalore. Google has recently opened up quite a bit when it comes to giving out its data center information. Recently, they gave a peek at how their data center operations happen thus giving everyone a peek into the world’s biggest internet company and its server operations. The Asian data centers are listed on Google’s website but there is no information about their operations and status yet.
