Dhingana  has managed to get its app downloaded more than 3.5 Million times. Currently, Dhingana is the only service which has an app for every Mobile Operating System (OS) including iPhone , Android , BlackBerry , and even the ageing, proprietary Nokia Phone OS . What’s the growth strategy? Recently, the company even managed to out a Windows 8 app too. Looking at the support for so many OSes, it is amply clear that the company’s primary focus is Mobile web & its ecosystem. However, as if that’s not enough, Dhingana has even released a Mobile optimized website perfected for streaming on feature phones.  Featuring rugged design & exceptional battery life these phones often combine the best of both worlds. But they critically lack an OS on which third-party applications can work seamlessly. Despite the popularity & bottoming of smartphone & their prices respectively, people continue to buy feature phones & it is for such an audience that the Dhingana Mobile website is oriented revealed Snehal Shinde, CEO & Founder Dhingana, “ Vast majority of India’s mobile Internet usage still occurs on feature phones ”. Recently released numbers by TRAI estimate there are about 407 Million ‘web-capable’ phones. In comparison, there are only 24 Million smartphones. So, apart from the emerging smartphone segment, it is absolutely essential to focus on this vast demographic for immediate & sustainable ROI. Dhingana as a music-streaming service has been pretty aggressive about expansion. Tying-up with big brands & strategically monetizing its properties, the company has managed to surge ahead & judging by the number of downloads, its public acceptance is good too. The internet, especially, the mobile high speed internet, will continue to greatly influence the pace of such services for a considerable amount of future. The key will be to come up products that dynamically match the environment & alter themselves to offer a buffer-less / lag-free music listening experience. What do you think?
