Indian Government Rolls Out ‘eBiz’ Portal To Offer ‘Single-Window’ Clearances For All Businesses

Taking a significant step towards facilitating businesses in India, the Government of India is about to launch a ‘ eBiz Portal ’ to offer single-window assistance & clearances. The eBiz Project, a first of its kind Government to Business (G2B) portal, has been developed by Infosys in a public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The company has been entrusted with the entire design, development & deployment process. Once completely ready, the portal will allow private organizations who wish to setup a new business or even old companies to apply for & avail a number of permissions, clearances, approvals and registrations via a single application. Once submitted, the application will be intelligently & logically routed via various respective Government channels & departments. According to Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, “ The project aims to create a business and investor-friendly ecosystem in India by making all business and investment-related regulatory services across Central, State and local governments available on a single portal, thereby obviating the need for an investor or a business to visit multiple offices or a plethora of websites ”. Additionally, the portal will also get an ePayment gateway. But the interesting aspect of this add-on will be the way it will manage the funds. Businesses will only have to make a single-time payment. Thereafter, this lump some will be apportioned, split and routed to the respective heads of account of Central/ State/Parastatal (a quasi-governmental organization, corporation, business) agencies as & when demanded electronically. If that’s not all, the portal will also generate e-Receipts or Challans & is also touted to come up with Management Information Systems (MIS) reports! Apart from Aadhar this is the ambitious pan-India projects envisaged  by the government   that will benefit companies, orgazinations & firms of all sizes.   The real question that arises is, how will the present-day ‘paper-only’ system be integrated within this?
