Microsoft India’s Startup Accelerator Inducts 13 Startups For Its Second Batch

Microsoft India has announced that it has selected 13 new Indian startups for its second batch at the Microsoft Accelerator for Windows Azure. We had written about the first batch graduating the accelerator last month. The accelerator received 350 applications and has selected these 13 startups which managed to stand out among the rest. The startups that have been granted admission into the accelerator are 360 Living , Adepto , DeckApp , Frintit , Harness , I7 Networks , Label Guild , Profoundis , Qubole , SupportBee , TableGrabber , Tuebora and Visarity . These startups are early stage companies which are focusing across a myriad of sectors but with cloud  technology at its core. Microsoft has said that these startups are operating across big data, augmented reality, healthcare, education, mobile apps, social networking and security. They will be starting at the accelerator from March 1st. The length of the accelerator is 4 months and these companies will be receiving a boost in terms of technology infrastructure, mentorship and related business advice from mentors. Microsoft said that their previous batch had seen around 100 mentors. Mukund Mohan, CEO-in-residence, Microsoft Accelerator for Windows Azure spoke about the development, “All the 13 startups have great ideas. But they need support in a few critical areas to be able to mature those ideas into long-term profitable businesses. Our program is intended to focus on those areas. We will provide them access to our 100+ mentor network, from within and outside India, who are fully committed to ensure their success. We will connect them to our vast network of early adopters so that they can define their product/market fit before a formal launch to market. And we will drive these four months as an intense boot camp where we will track the weekly progress of each startup and share reports with their mentors. It is going to be a lot of hard work, while we learn from each other, and have a lot of fun too!” Like we have said before, now is a good time for product startups in the country as there is finally a push for innovative cloud products and solutions from India. The more startups get recognized and mentored, the better it is for the startup ecosystem as well the economy on the whole. Besides Microsoft’s accelerator, there are other accelerators which have been set-up in the country with an objective to identify promising ideas and helping such ideas come to fruition.
