Using technology for education is unfortunately not growing as visualized. While mobile technology and smartphone boom is being used majorly for ecommerce sites and in the private sector, there aren’t all that many dedicated educational apps or sites accessible via mobile. To change that, Vuclip, one of India’s leading mobile video companies, has launched a new channel, . This channel will be accessible from all internet enabled phones, and has content for K12 (Class XII) and higher education students. To begin with, users will have access to videos from a non-profit educational organization with the aim of providing a free world-class education for anyone anywhere, Khan Academy .  It claims to have delivered over 234 million lessons worldwide, and now it is coming to the small screen. The user has the option to stream the videos at high or regular resolution, depending on the bandwidth used by their phone. The user can log in via Facebook or Twitter . It has three panels, one for trending, one for recommended videos based on your search history and a personalized panel for saving your playlists. Vuclip also revealed the findings of its three day global survey on education, in which more than 80,000 people participated from developing and developed countries all over the world. Among the comprehensive results was the fact that more than half of respondents in India cited money as the biggest obstacle to getting an education of their choice. It also revealed that Indians are relatively more open to learning at home, with only 18% preferring to learn in a school, compared to the global average of 25. 82% said that they were responsive to receiving education through phones, 2% more than the rest of the world .This was especially true for respondents below 18 years of age. Vuclip has established its presence in over 200 countries. It recently raised 13 million dollars in funding and downloads stood at one million in December. It is in comparison with other streaming websites that exist and stream educational videos like Iprof. The business models differ completely and mode of dissemination are far different too but competition is still competition, Vuclip is going to face a lot of it in the growing Indian internet space.
