Daily deals may not be very hot right now but Ideafarm’s new smartphone app called DealChaat has the potential to make searching and securing deals more convenient. They have recently released the app for iOS and Android and one of the significant features that it sports is the location aware nature of the app. The app has a decent and clear UI. All potential deals are divided into main categories like Food & Beverages, Fashion, Entertainment, Electronics etc. Each category is further sud-divided into the relevant sections eg. Food & Beverages is divided into Bars & Lounges, Cafes, Desserts and so on. This kind of detailing will definitely help it build a better and convenient database of deals. The app checks for your location when you run it and then shows you the number of deals available around you. You can search for deals by changing this location parameter. You can set the app to search in say a 20 km radius instead of the default. You can also search for deals in different places regardless of your current position. The app adds a layer of deals on a Google map interface thus giving an easy visual when you are checking for deals. You can click on a particular deal and view the deal code and redeem this at the restaurant/venue which is offering the deal. There is no need for coupons. When we checked, the Mumbai area mostly had only Domino’s deals available in the Food and Beverages section and most of the other categories did not show any deals. The service does not have a big presence in Mumbai, Bangalore and is planning to expand operations in these cities soon. When I checked for deals in Delhi, the map filled up! The app is really simple and makes searching for deals much easier than before. As far as we know this is the first app which serves up deals in this way and it would be great if the service offered more deals in Mumbai and Bangalore. The app currently has around 900+ businesses and shops which have signed up to have their deals displayed on the app. The interesting thing about the app is that it offers businesses the ability to directly post their deals to the app by feeding deal data onto the app’s backend via their dashboard. The app also supports advertising and is offering advertisers the opportunity to place their ads directly onto the app. Seems to me that Ideafarms have a good plan. Now all they need is to get some awesome deals and see traction among the country’s numerous smartphone users. Download the app and tell us what you think of it.
