MakeMyTrip Partners With OneAssist; Travel To Get More Secure & Safe

Over the last couple of months MakeMyTrip has been on an expansion and growth blitz. In August 2012, it committed to using its $88 million cash reserves for acquisitions . And in November 2012, it did just that as it acquired for $25 million with the view to get complete South East Asia coverage. Now, the aggressive online travel player has gone ahead and forged a strategic partnership with OneAssist Consumer Solutions Pvt. Ltd . OneAssist provides personalised monetary and mobile management and security solutions to its customers for a minimal fee. The company offers services like WalletAssist, MobileAssist, EverydayAssist. These are designed keeping in mind a consumer who stores every important data on his/her phone and travels regularly. As per this particular partnership, travellers that make bookings via MakeMyTrip will get the option of choosing to make use of the services offered by OneAssist. The services that are on offer as follows: In case of theft/credit card/smartphone loss consumers can make one call from anywhere in the world to a particular number that will stop freeze their cards and/or erase their phone OneAssist will help in settling hotel bills, both domestic and international. There is, however, a cap on the amount that can be settled using this service In case a traveller loses his/her passport, OneAssist will provide help with regards to documentation and procedure in addition to providing foreign language translation services For this partnership, OneAssist has created the TripAssist program for MakeMyTrip customers. In addition to providing the services mentioned above, this particular feature will also give customers 1GB free storage space to store all their documents and also send out messages to friends and family in case of an emergency. The service is valid for 30 days and costs Rs. 599 (inclusive of service tax). Speaking on this tie-up, Rajnish Kapur, Chief Information Officer and Head – Customer Service at said, “One of the chief worries while travelling revolves around security and connectivity. With this tie-up, we are assuring the traveller of the security of their financial and phone data even in the unfortunate event of theft or loss.” There is no information on what additional benefits or monetary discounts MakeMyTrip customers will get if they choose to make use of this service. I think this is a smart partnership by the online travel giant and that it has taken a wise decision to incorporate this consumer-friendly service in its kitty of offerings.
