Microsoft Launches Office 365 Targeted At Businesses & Enterprises In India

After launching the consumer version of Office 365 in January, Microsoft India has announced the launch of cloud-based Office 365 for businesses, enterprises, corporate users and SMEs in India. Office 365 can be easily termed as a reinvention of the company’s product line of Office productivity suites. The new Office 365 brings a plethora of useful features to the table and integrates the user’s files and documents to the company’s cloud storage service, SkyDrive . This provision will help business-oriented users to seamlessly access their data across up to five devices anytime, anywhere just with a single license. The new Microsoft Office 365 includes tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, OneNote, Project along with Microsoft Lync. Also, the Office has been made social, meaning that users can share data via social layers, including Yammer and others. SharePoint is now integrated with Yammer and Lync in order to provide a social platform to organizations. Office 365 is touch enabled, pen enabled and will work equally well using Keyboard and mouse. Moreover, the new Office for mobile works across operating system like iOS, Android and others just like they would on a regular PC. Office 365, launched by Microsoft in 2011, has been steadily growing and has been one of Microsoft’s fastest growing product and service globally. at present, one in five of Microsoft’s enterprise customers worldwide use the paid service, up from one in seven a year ago. Commenting on the launch of the new service, Mr. Bhaskar Pramanaik, Chairman, Microsoft India, said, “I n today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, the next generation Office 365 unlocks social and mobility scenarios that will allow businesses and individuals to take full advantage of the cloud. It gives them the freedom to do things, when, where and how they want ”. Microsoft has partnered with Lupin, Godrej groups, Tata Communications and many more to provide the new Microsoft Office 365. It is available directly through Microsoft or through an authorized retail outlet or Open License partners. Moreover, Microsoft India has also tied-up with Airtel which will allow users to buy it through Airtel broadband connections and pay for the software via their Airtel bill . Last year, Microsoft had also entered into a partnership with BlackBerry regarding Microsoft Office. “ We chose Office 365 to integrate communications between our group companies across India as well as our international entities. With Exchange Online, our email is backed up with service-level agreements, performance guarantees, disaster recovery and assured business continuity. Overall, we are very satisfied with the stable performance of Exchange Online and its lower cost of ownership. Charges of the Office 365 depends upon the usage pattern and customers type, like for consumers the office home premium costs Rs. 499 per year and for businesses the prices vary from small to large businesses, ranging from $6 per user per month to $22 per users per month. The launch is part of Microsoft’s existing comprehensive cloud strategy, and Office 365 will definitely take cloud computing on a new height. Microsoft Office 365 provides all enterprise solutions on a flexible usage based payment model, along with security and IT management features.With Office 365, Microsoft and its partners are directly hitting out at Google Apps.
