We reported yesterday about the State of the Internet Report from Akamai which said that global internet speeds had increased considerably in the ending months of 2012. The global average peak connection speed rose by 35% as compared to the previous quarter. The average connection speed also showed an increase of 25%.  South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong were some prominent names when it came to increase in Internet speeds. Now, we have got the India stats. The report says that the average Internet speed in the country increased by 19% compared to the previous quarter, thus showing a considerable improvement. So, the average Internet speed in the country currently comes to 1.2 Mbps. This is an almost 50% increase compared to the final quarter of 2011. Broadband adoption in the country increased by 171% from 2011 compared to other Asian countries like Hong Kong (7.9%), Taiwan (100%) and China (122%). The cyber attack traffic in India has dropped to 2.3% of the global volume from 2.5% in the previous quarter. The numbers, especially the ones about connection speeds and broadband adoption seem very hopeful. It is worth noting that Akamai generates the state of the Internet report based on the traffic that passes through the Akamai content delivery network and does not include total traffic estimates.
