Buyt.in , a product discovery & e-Commerce portal listing aggregator engine has secured US$ 1 Million funding according to iamwire . Though the investing agency has not come forth, it appears to be a Delhi-NCR based Digital Marketing Company. The news should be officially announced next week. What does Buyt.in do? The portal is essentially a crawler that ploughs through multiple partner e-commerce portals & offers collated search lists of similar products on the same page. One can correlate the methodology to other similar sites like Amazon’s Junglee , CompareIndia , MySmartPrice & others for e-commerce businesses or in case of travel, it could be Wego, Yatra & others. Considering the competition already vying for consumers’ attention, Buyt.in seems to have gone a step ahead. The company claims to have tied up with over 100 e-commerce players including the likes of Croma, Flipkart, Snapdeal & others & accordingly has an inventory spanning more than 4500 brands & 5 Million SKUs. This strategic partnership allows it a direct infusion & core data retrieval. Not to mention, the data is available instantly, it is thorough & attested by the participating web-business. If one chooses to search for a generic term or product, the search algorithm crawls through the e-Commerce portal & offers details & pricing about that product from all the participating e-commerce stores. Despite the efforts, owing to the other players, the company will have to come up with some incentives to entice users to visit Buyt.in. Though web-portals have increasingly begun believing in such product discovery engines to promote their brand inorganically, they themselves are striving hard to improve their search algorithms. It is certainly interesting that despite the number of players in the exact same field, Buyt.in has managed to raise such hefty amount of funding. The founder confirms that the funds will be utilized to expand team size, optimize website, and expand to international markets. More so, the funding company will handle the marketing activities of the website. With the level of involvement, do you think the marketing company needed Buyt.in more than vice versa?
