Swedish Automobile company, Volvo cars has launched its V40 Cross Country Crossover Utility Vehicle at their new showroom on 14th June. Volvo V40 is made available in both variants petrol as well as diesel. This new crossover specially attracts young working segment and it is an off-road hatchback. This is the luxurious car which can be afforded very easily. New member of India’s Automobile can give a tough competition to both segments: compact crossovers and luxury hatchback cars. In short time we can expect the V40 to definitely become a good competitor to BMW X1, Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A class. This five-seater luxurious model has rear seats that can be folded up to 40/60 to make it more spacious and we can fold front seats also for luggage facility. USB/iPod connector is made available at armrest compartment which is again a storage space. We can say it’s a huge room car with superb design for its black high-gloss frame around the greenhouse, the black rear-view mirror, alloy wheels, roof rails that enhance the style of the vehicle. This is an off-road car so it comes with AWD and hill descent control which makes the driving more comfortable and a pleasurable experience. This model is launched with two power packages, first is D3 diesel with a 2litre powertrain and it gives maximum power of 149.9bhp and the T4 petrol version with 1.6litre diesel powertrain with maximum power of 180bhp and torque 270Nm. V40 crossover is slightly high than its standard version and it can be depicted from Volvo V40 pictures that its design is inspired by SUV .     Volvo V40 features braking energy generation and start/stop function, they are not affected by the gearbox thing whether it is manual or automatic. Wireless music playing and Bluetooth hands free communication is made available too. Some security features include Pedestrian Air Bag and Detection Technology which is the first ever such kind of technology, city safety and auto braking technology which have won Euro NCAP Award. Volvo Cars doesn’t have any Completely Knocked Down plant in India where they can assemble their parts so the whole wagon is imported from their plant located in Belgium as a Completely Built Unit. So Volvo V40 price was expected to be higher than the normal somewhat between Rs. 23lakhs to 25lakhs but it has been priced even higher than that at Rs 28.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This new member is on number one in all aspects like top class security related technologies, luxury, space but much higher in price.
