Microsoft and Nokia have  confirmed that  that Twitter’s popular video sharing app Vine will be coming to the Windows 8 platform, along with other social apps such as Flipboard and Path. Vine first appeared on iOS in January, and  landed on Android in early June. “We want to take people on a journey from capturing pictures to recording and sharing their lives. The Nokia Lumia 1020 will bring new meaning to pictures and continues to strengthen Nokia’s leadership in imaging. ” – Stephen Elop, President and CEO, Nokia. The video app currently has over 13 million active users. Path, which is another popular application for personal networking that helps users connect with friends and family will also launch an application for the Windows Phone platform. Nokia confirmed that the Path app would come with 50 free and premium filter effects to share photos; along with high resolution & deep zoom imaging capabilities as well. Other apps on the list include: Hipstamatic, Path, Vyclone, SNAPCAM, Panagraph, Yelp, CNN and Foursquare. There’s no word on when Vine, Flipboard and Path will be available for Windows Phone 8, we’ll keep you updated. The lack of popular apps for the Windows Phone 8 platform has hindered sales of WP8 devices, and the addition of Vine and Flipboard will no doubt make consumers consider a WP8 device over Android and iOS. With a camera as powerful as the one on the Lumia 1020, social apps that share photos and videos are integral to the success of not only this device, but theWindows Phone 8 ecosystem in general.
