Instagram To Roll Out Photo And Video Ads To US Users Soon

It official. Ads are coming to Instagram.  The popular photo and video sharing service has announced that it will start showing ads to its photo feed. The announcement follows reports that were circulating around the internet last month.  ” We’ll focus on delivering a small number of beautiful, high-quality photos and videos from a handful of brands that are already great members of the Instagram community, ” the company said today in a blog post . Ads will start rolling out to US users over the next few months and will come from brands that you don’t follow.  Instagram also assured that the advertisements will be made to feel ‘ as natural to Instagram as the photos and videos many of you already enjoy ’. The 150 million users of the network will have “control” but that does not mean they will be able to turn off advertising. If you see an ad you don’t like, you will be able to hide it and provide feedback about the reason behind it, similar to Facebook. This is the first attempt by Instagram to turn its popularity into revenue stream. Pinterest last month announced  plans to introduce promoted pins in search results and category feeds. Mobile advertising is seeing rapid growth, according to research firm eMarketer Inc., which estimates an 89% increase in 2013, to $8.8 billion world-wide. We won’t like our photo feed cluttered with unwanted ads and we think millions other users feel the same way!
