Event Management Agencies Now Have An Online Marketplace Of Their Own

eCommerce has taken on multiple roles. What was once a preferred domain for selling merchandise and booking tickets has now expanded to included events and venues too, with Explara.com launching an online ‘events’ marketplace. The site which was once predominantly an online event ticketing and registration platform has offered a completely new scope for event managers and organizers to list their events and ensure patrons have an easier option to book tickets and attend events. How is the platform different from BookMyShow or Ticketgenie and others? Sites like BookMyShow have traditionally offered tickets to movies, but they too have expanded their scope to sell tickets to other events . In fact, the IPL matches have proven to be a great revenue generating machine. Additionally, these companies have even offered tickets to some niche events like horse racing, F1 and other events too. However, these platforms have been pro-customer only and that too the scope was highly limited. Explara’s marketplace will offer solutions via Explara’s own apps marketplace (mobile and web) and services via partnering with event industry service providers such as venue booking, event management companies and event support services. Essentially, a company statement summarized the efforts by saying ‘ This marketplace will serve end-to-end needs of an event organizer for pre-event, event-day and post-event. ’ Explara is trying to offer a simplistic platform for event organizers to publish time, dates and details about the events they are organizing. To ensure adoption is high at both the ends, the company has also launched a ‘Developer and Marketplace Program’ for inviting app developers, solution providers and service providers to offer their solutions and services via Explara platform API and integrations. The company seems to have cleverly extrapolated the efforts by regional events listing portals like Tushky , with a scope for the organizers to better promote their events via the internet.
