Windows Phone users has received an early Christmas present from Microsoft. The software giant has gifted 20 GB free Skydrive storage for Windows Phone Users. Microsoft is sending out emails to Windows Phone customers with links to activate free 20GB SkyDrive storage. The storage will be active for a year, and users can claim it by the end of January. The deal was first spotted by Windows Phone users who received an official email from Microsoft. “ To show our appreciation of Windows Phone customers,” the message reads, “we are giving you an extra 20GB of free SkyDrive storage for one year. This is in addition to the 7GB of free SkyDrive storage that all customers currently have.” Microsoft has enhanced SkyDrive with the launch of Windows 8.1 and is already offering  200GB of free SkyDrive storage for two years with every purchase of Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2 tablets. Currently the company is offering 7GB of free SkyDrive storage to all subscribers. SkyDrive is Microsoft’s online cloud storage platform that allows users to upload and sync files cross-platform. Google Drive and Dropbox are other players in this market. The latest move by Microsoft can be touted as a move to attract more users. Earlier this year, Microsoft had added ‘Placeholder Files’ feature to SkyDrive and ‘Offline’ access to the cloud storage service in Windows 8.1.
