YouTube , Google’s video sharing product is celebrating its 6th birthday. Six years back, in May 2005, YouTube was launched. That time, YouTube was first of its kind and it still maintains the same standard. There are other video sharing sites but none can even come close to YouTube in both quantity and quality. While celebrating its sixth birthday, Google’s video sharing subsidiary shared some facts that are responsible for its dominance in the market. Currently, YouTube musters 3 billion daily views per day and that is 50% increase from the last year. ComScore revealed that total U.S web users were engaged in more than 5 billion viewing sessions in the April 2011. The infographic on the increase of the number of hours video uploaded on YouTube in each single minute also shows the growing popularity of YouTube amongst internet users. Four years back in 2007, only 8 hours of video happened to be uploaded in YouTube. In 2008, it increased to 13 hours and in last year, it was 35 hours per minute. In 2011, it reached its peak as 48 hours of video get uploaded every minute on YouTube in 2011. In the official blogpost , the YouTube team thanked users for using their service and said that the initial six years were very important for them to expand. Right now, YouTube’s target is to gather 4 billion views per day and having 72 hours of video get uploaded in every minute . The blogpost requested users to co-operate with them and wrote, “ For our part, we’ll continue to work at delivering the diversity and quality of content you’re asking for .” Looking For A Social Media Agency?? – Contact WATConsult – India’s Leading Social Media Agency Related Posts Android, Google TV and Google Wave Expected Announcements At Google I/O Google Ramps Up Monetisation Strategy For Indian Market Indiatimes’ IPL Video Stream Attracts More Than 4.5 Lakh Visitors Every Day Indiatimes Collaborates with YouTube to Broadcast IPL Matches LIVE YouTube Ventures Into Live Streaming With Certain Partners
