BlackBerry Makers Research In Motion (RIM) has collaborated with Microsoft to launch a Cloud based Office Productivity Suite. Simply titled Microsoft Office 365 , the service will help Users & Admins alike to better manage the corporate data on the Smartphones & Servers. Blackberry who recently recovered from the blackout is in no mood to upset its present customers & is offering this service free of cost ! Of course the customers include only who have subscribed to the stand-alone Office 365 suite or the standalone Exchange Online offering. However, the good news is that no matter what the data plan one uses, Consumer (EDGE) or Business (BlackBerry Internet Services [BIS] or BlackBerry Enterprise Services [BES]), one can still purchase this service which is presently not priced. The new cloud-based service will do what iPhone owners have been doing for quite some time . Synching Emails, Documents, Calendar & Organizer data. However, RIM has an ace up it sleeve with BlackBerry Balance . This tool will assist Corporate IT Administrators to effectively manage Corporate data on the device which many enterprises fear might land into wrong hands . Furthermore, BlackBerry users can heave a sigh of relief because there is a choice to objectively separate Personal Data & Corporate Data! This cloud-based service will also bring remote lock and remote wipe functions with it. With the recent stepping down of BlackBerry head honchos & other events & incidents , we wonder is there something more than what catches the eye? . With the probable acquisition of Yahoo, not yet materialized, is Microsoft eying RIM? The companies are already collaborating heavily behind closed doors to enhance customer experience . Furthermore, Microsoft & RIM primarily cater to the same end of the Customer pyramid, i.e. the Enterprise Market. There were even rumors of a possible take-over, but they remained just that, rumors. We believe there is still a lot of life let in RIM, but it has to up its game, if it wishes to remain a considerable force in the business circles. Yahoo! will soon offer Marketing agencies an opportunity to insert their advertisements into Yahoo’s multimedia content . A while ago, Yahoo had made foray , albeit late into the world of online streaming of movies. Yahoo, at that time claimed it was doing so to offer original & professionally created content to its audiences. Now we know why it had intended to do so. At that time it even offered a web-exclusive release of Super-K an animation film. Yahoo had been planning this for quite some time. We had first reported Yahoo’s spreading of its wings in Sep 2011. Hence this should not come as surprise. Especially when Ad-spends in India, though are rising, the online display advertising business is a dismal 3.7 per cent of the total budget allocated for putting across products & brands. With gross under monetization of this lucrative, yet untapped field, Yahoo! has as its audience of about 30 Million Internet users who regularly consume online video content. In terms of clips, its about 1.8 Billion video streams being watched per month. Yahoo has the necessary intelligence to allocate targeted ads owing to intelligence that even Microsoft relies on . With this aggregated knowledge about consumer behavior Yahoo! should not have any issues offering just what the consumers wants to see & buy. India is a youthful country with online population growing at a healthy rate. The only roadblock is the poor bandwidth. If broadband is made available cheap , Yahoo’s revenue could see a huge spike just like Google’s . We guess, Yahoo should start offering some incentives to attract more & more users to its portal to view movies with cleverly inserted ads! Unlike TV’s at home, one may choose to mute the video when ads are being played, but what if Yahoo displays just what you had been craving through a wish list somewhere?
