Banyan Tree Infomedia , the Web and Software development firm, has launched the full-fledged version of its question and answer site ”. Answerify was in beta-test for the last eight months and now has been opened to the public. Answerify allows users to ask questions on any topic as well as answer the questions which already have been asked. When you ask a question, you have to sort it in a pre-defined category. But, one thing I observed on the site is that it has very less categories and hence most of the times you just won’t find a category to put your question under. Answerify allows users to ask or answer questions even without registration. Of course, this is not a novel feature as such, but it is still commendable. Many a times we leave a site just because it needs registration. You can log in with your Facebook account, too. This way you can cross-post your activities on Facebook. The Twitter integration is also on its away. The one thing that we liked about the portal is that it is uncluttered and very legible. The layout is good, too. But, the one thing that we found very annoying was the ad placed between the question and the answers. You read the question and you just don’t see the answers. We wish the portal does away with this. Answerify has got a good model in place, but it is not much different from other Q&A sites . Hence, I don’t see why people will go for it instead of other established sites such as Yahoo Answers or Answers.com . The one thing that is in favour of sites like Yahoo Answers is that they have a large user-base . Hence, there is a great possibility to get an answer to an question instantly. Answerify is not looking at maximising traffic at this moment of time. The portal is designed for international market. But, Banyan Tree Infomedia is also planning to launch a portal to target the Indian user-base . The portal will be similar to Answerify in approach, but will focus on local, city-specific content. The portal is under development and will be launched in few months’ time.
